Happy Summer!
As you may have noticed I have been missing in action for the last few months. I finished out this MIA period with a short trip to the ocean, specifically to Wilmington, NC. After some much needed R&R, pondering things while staring into the vastness I am back and excited to share what has been going on. So let’s jump into it!
As of July 1, I officially retired from my career in IT. Gone are the long days of pounding away at the keyboard, troubleshooting, architecting solutions, and meetings, so many meetings. With the recent outage from a CrowdStrike update I feel for the folks in that industry but I am glad not be dealing with it. 😁
I was fortunate to have worked with some amazing people over the years and learned so much from what seems like countless people. I could not have gotten to this point without the incredible support of the company and managers I worked for. The next stage is here and now I am enjoying being an entrepreneur and putting my full focus into creating art and running my business.
June was a busy month, to start I was hired to photograph the Canal Music Festival in Tipp City. A great festival with loads of vendors and musical performances from Znels, Michael Williams and Draw the Line. Here is a short video with some of the shots from that day I had posted on my Instagram:
Next up we had Street Fair here in Yellow Springs. Unfortunately because of the above festival being on the same day I did not get a chance to shoot the main stage. I did get some time to wander the crowds and hear a few buskers playing:
At the end of the month was the Pride Festival. This year the format was a bit different but the weather was the same, hot. The festival was non-stop and was so much fun to shoot. I actually had to switch cameras half way through as I started to get an over heating warning. First time for everything I guess! A few photos of the musical performances below:
The final event should have been the July 4th celebration, but sadly it got rained out and rescheduled for Saturday, August 3rd. It is rebranded as a Community Celebration Day. I will have some photos to share from that day in the next newsletter.
In other news, I have been working on updates to my shop as well as some new product designs. I have a new tote design that is currently only available at Glen Garden Gifts & Flowers in Yellow Springs. However, they will soon be available in my store along with some other new products and updated prints!
